30 Day Primal Challenge is Here!!!!

Good Morning Everyone! And Happy September!!

Fall is coming and when the seasons change, I always think it’s fun to add a little change to our lives! So, starting today, me and a group of my friends are embarking on the 30 day Primal Challenge again! Now, I have been eating “Primally” for several years, and I have never looked or felt better! So how can it be a “Challenge” if I already eat this way?? Well for me, this challenge is a way to increase my consciousness on the way I eat. To really look at the little things I let slip into my mouth and why. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to let loose and enjoy, but just for 30 days I’m going to be strict! It’s always good to tighten up the reigns and really identify what’s going on in our minds!!

This post is FULL of information and breaks down exactly what the Primal Blueprint is all about. And since it’s morning where I’m at, here are some Primal Breakfast suggestions (click HERE). I started out my morning with a nice bowl of fruit and cinnamon, and a handful (or 2) of almonds! Yum!! And I washed it down with some Univera!! I feel great!!!!

What is nutrition?

How many of you get confused when thinking about nutrition? How many of you know what to eat to have a healthy, lean body?  How many of you have tried speaking with your doctor or registered dietitian about what foods you should be eating, but still have had no luck with your health goals?? How many of you feel as if you are eating a “healthy” diet but still cannot reach your health goals? Confused? Fed up? Frustrated? Does this sound like you???

If this does sound like you, then don’t worry! You’re just like the rest of the majority of the population.  Learning how to feed ourselves has become overly complicated recently and it doesn’t have to be this way! I used to be in the same boat! No matter how “healthy” my diet seemed, I still was unable to lose weight and feel great! This struggle went on for YEARS! Then I stumbled upon a website that made everything SIMPLE! At Mark’s Daily Apple, you will find TONS of useful information on what foods work best for YOU! You will learn how to eat well, feel great, have tons of energy, and GET LEAN! And the concept is SO simple – it’s all about eating foods found in nature (fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and healthy meats) and avoiding foods made by man (processed food and grains!) This concept is so SIMPLE! But not always easy … the challenging part is opening up your mind to a different way of life. Not complicated, not difficult, but different.

Meaningful Success Story

Good morning everyone!

I wanted to piggy back off of PerformancEDU’s meaningful success story, posted a few weeks ago. PerformancEDU and YahNutrition have teamed up with this AMAZING young lady and we have both welcomed her into our family with open arms!

Jeannie Clarke is amazing – hands down. Successful business woman, beautiful mother, fabulous wife, amazing friend – but above all, Jeannie is an awesome person!! Jeannie came to us in January with the goal of losing 100 pounds. Now many of you may scoff at this and think it’s impossible – in fact, dietitians and doctors were telling Jeannie that this kind of weight loss is impossible without painful surgery or risky prescription meds.

7 months later, and 60 pounds down – Jeannie is proving all these negative nancy’s WRONG! I can only imagine the joy Jeannie felt, marching into that doctor’s office and seeing the look of shock on his face when she explained – “Yeah, I lost all this weight, the NATURAL way” GASP! And what is the “Natural” way – it’s eating foods that are nourishing to the body, and moving your body, the way that it is supposed to move.

Coupled with diet and fitness, the MOST important element of this journey, is Jeannie’s mindset. Success stories, like Jeannie’s, are rare NOT because they’re impossible – they are rare because people don’t have the proper mindset! If you don’t think you can do something, then guess what – you’re right!! But if you whole-heartedly believe that you CAN do it – then you WILL!!! It’s as simple as that. Simple, but not always easy 🙂 That’s why it’s important to have SUPPORT! I am sure Jeannie can agree, that there have been many ups, but many downs as well. And that is all part of the journey – and she’s still going strong!! (See before and after photos here)

Jeannie is such an inspiration and I am proud to have her in our family!! So THANK YOU Jeannie, for all that you have brought us 🙂

Here’s an article that confirms more reasons to avoid food dyes! I always thought it was odd that we add coloring to our food …. I mean, really? What’s the point? All the more reason to eat a natural, PRIMAL, diet!!

Coconut Oil!

Coconut Oil!

You can cook with it, add it to smoothies, add it to tea, or just eat it by itself!!

Why? Well, in addition to being resistant to high heat (making it ideal to cook with), it has numerous health benefits!

Let’s look at a few:

  • Coconut is highly nutritious and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Kills fungi and yeasts that cause candidiasis, ringworm, athlete’s foot, thrush, diaper rash, and other infections.
  • Helps protect against osteoporosis
  • Helps relieve symptoms associated with gallbladder disease.

Cravings

Happy Friday Friends!!
I hope you all are choosing to have a GREAT day – no matter what!! 😀 My friend, who is on the Primal Challenge, made a comment to me the other day about his food cravings and how they have seemed to disappear while being on the primal challenge. My beautiful mother also told me that her sugar cravings have gone away as well. Part of the glory of the challenge, is that it eliminates many of the foods that we can get physically addicted to (and yes, we can get physically addicted to foods – especially refined carbs and sugar!) After ridding ourselves of the physical cravings, we are left to deal with the emotional cravings. I know many of you might be saying “Well, this doesn’t apply to me – I am not an emotional eater.” In fact, I used to say this myself! And maybe it’s true – maybe you’re not an emotional eater. But maybe – you are. Maybe, you’ve just tuned it out, or rationalized it away. Maybe this is the real reason you’re not feeling well or you’re not reaching your health goals. Emotions play a HUGE role in the way that we eat – whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. Not only do emotions drive us to eat – but the emotions that we are feeling WHILE eating affect the food choices we make, how much we eat, and it even affects the whole digestive process!! My challenge for you all today (myself included) is to really tune into yourself and your body while eating. Any time that you go to eat or drink something besides water – take special notice of how you are feeling. Ask yourself – “why am I eating right now?” The answer may be “because I am hungry!” Perfect! But you may notice that you’re not physically hungry, but maybe just in the mood to eat. That is OK too!! Don’t judge yourself! Just take notice of the emotion you are experiencing at that moment. You may at this point – choose not to eat and instead choose something else to soothe that emotion. OR – you might decide to go ahead and eat anyway! Either way is OK! Trust yourself to know exactly how to soothe your mind and body, the best that you know how. Repeat after me – “I trust myself. I trust my body to heal itself. I trust my mind to soothe itself. I trust in the universe to provide enough. I am OK. Everything is OK. I am at peace” If you feel uncomfortable or fearful – trust that it is OK. Stop resisting and just accept! I am here for you all – just as I know you are there for me – so don’t ever hesitate to contact me! I believe in you!!
